Abstract
“Applied improvisation” is a set of tools, skills, and mind-sets developed by improvisational theater experts and modified for application to real-world challenges.  Organizational leadership is one such challenge.  Session participants have the opportunity to experience multiple improvisational exercises and their associated debriefs. By “performing,” rather than just hearing about these activities, participants will be able to decide how they might use applied improvisation to accelerate leadership development in their own clients.

Learning Objectives

  • List at least 3 benefits to clients when incorporating applied improvisation into leadership development.
  • Demonstrate at least one applied improvisational activity to enhance a client’s leadership insight, skill or motivation.
  • State that I had the opportunity to practice at least one applied improvisational activity and participate in its debrief.
