2024 DEIA Excellence in Research Grant

DEADLINE – June 30th, 2024 at 11:59 pm ET

Award Chair: Dr. Lacey Farrow | Consulting Psychologist

Applicant Eligibility 

Student (Undergraduate or Graduate)
Early Career Consultants (1-10 years of experience post-graduate*).
*Post-graduate includes master’s and doctoral level professionals.

Aim of the Grant

The aim of the DEIA Excellence in Research Grant is to assist students (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels) and early career consultants (1-10 years after graduate degree) with producing original DEIA research that is relevant to Applied Psychology.

The DEI Domain serves as an access point for knowledge, training, and research exchange on matters of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Accessibility at the Society of Consulting Psychology (SCP). The purpose of the DEIA Excellence in Research Grant is to promote the continued practice, professional development, and commitment to DEIA service within the Domain and SCP at large.

Benefits to Grant Awardees

Grant recipients benefit by obtaining funds that can be used to cover research expenses. Likewise, the grant will assist recipients in continued professional development as the funds could be used to attend conferences or workshops, where the student could present their research. For instance, a student could use funds to cover costs associated with delivering a poster presentation, data blitz session, skill-building sessions, or symposium at a conference.

2024 DEIA Dissertation Award

Applicant Eligibility 

The 2024 Dissertation Award is open to recent graduates who have completed a dissertation related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility within the past year (January 2022-present). Doctoral students who have finished the dissertation early are also encouraged to apply.

The DEIA Excellence Dissertation Award aims to recognize the scholarship produced by graduate students and early career consultants within the Society of Consulting Psychology (SCP). Likewise, the aim is to encourage more original dissertation studies on topics related to Applied Psychology and DEIA.

The 2024 Master’s Thesis Award is open to recent graduates who have completed a thesis related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility within the past year (January 2023-present). Master’s level students who have finished the thesis early are also encouraged to apply.

Research Grant Criteria
Finalists are determined based on the quality of scholarship, applicability to the field of Applied Psychology, relevant practical application, and advancement of knowledge in the scholarly community.

The Master’s Thesis must be completed manuscripts (published or unpublished).
For theses in progress, please see the “DEIA Excellence in Research Grant.”
A thesis in progress is defined as writing the literature review, submitting it to IRB, collecting data, conducting analyses, or editing/writing the final manuscript.
