Ten-Minute Topics
As professionals we routinely share with each other case illustrations of our ongoing work, our emerging insights, and areas we wish to learn from our colleagues. We seek to learn from and with each other.
Learning from each other is part of the intent of the Graduate Student Consortium. We offer an opportunity for participants who desire to share their perspective with others in attendance. Think of it as a mini-Ted Talk on a topic you have studied or worked on and wish to discuss. If you, or you and a partner, wish to present on a topic related to the professional work of consulting psychologists, provide a brief overview (100 words) followed by three key learning points and a question to explore with the audience. You will have ten minutes to present your message which will be followed by ten minutes Q&A/dialogue.
We have an hour on our agenda dedicated to presentations and can break into small groups to accommodate almost all who wish to make such presentations. If your submission is selected, you can cite it in the future as a presentation at a professional conference. Criteria we will use when reviewing submissions include:
- Relevance to the work of consulting psychologists and this conference. The theme of this year’s conference is collaboration, community and common ground, and these themes can be found in much of the work we do as professionals
- Personal engagement in the topic: you can present a case based on your own experience, research you have worked on, or a topic you have studied and wish to explore with others.
- Clarity of learning points and anticipated take aways for the audience
- Opportunity for discussion and audience engagement
The deadline for submitting a topic is November 15, 2024. Feedback provided week of November 15. We are available to provide coaching on presentation plans during the following weeks. Any slides you plan to use as part of your presentation are due January 15, 2025. If interested complete the following:
